Recovery Ventures: Offering a Helping Hand to Those Looking for Freedom from Substance Abuse
There are many reasons why someone might turn to drugs or alcohol for comfort. Maybe they began to rely on substances because they lost a loved one, were struggling with a breakup, or were facing the hardships that can come from anxiety. Or maybe they lost their job due to COVID-19 and were having trouble paying their bills. So, they turned to alcohol for relief. No matter what drove someone to depend on substances, defeating that reliance is a challenge, and one that usually cannot be done alone. That is why Recovery Ventures came into being.
Who We Are:
Recovery Ventures is a nonprofit establishment located in Western North Carolina with eight program residences that supply nearly one hundred and sixty beds for those in both primary care and transitional housing. We are dedicated to the rehabilitation of people who are looking to find freedom from the use of drugs or alcohol. We help people achieve this goal through long-term residential treatment, aftercare programs, and a wide variety of clinical services. But most of all, we are a place where families and individuals can find both hope and recovery.
We do not receive any sort of funding from external sources or request any from tax-based social programs. Recovery Ventures supports itself independently. The income that we can generate comes from the work done within the community and with our establishment’s partners. Aside from that, we are entirely reliant on donations made by caring, compassionate individuals who can empathize with our mission. So, why donate to us over other organizations? Because we help pave the way for recovery for many individuals by doing the following:
- We Share a True Understanding of What Those Seeking Treatment are Going Through
Every staff member at our center has gone through addiction recovery themselves, so they truly understand the struggles and the effects of addiction on both the body and the mind. As a result, they have firsthand knowledge that can successfully help others recover.
- We Emphasize Accountability and the Development of Life Skills
Our peer-based community provides the accountability that many individuals need throughout the rehabilitation process. Overcoming drug and alcohol addiction is challenging, but having the support and accountability of both our staff members and other individuals battling addiction is integral in helping people recover.
Additionally, we not only focus on assisting people overcome their dependence on drugs or alcohol, but we also teach life skills to help them during difficult times. That way, our residents can be responsible and self-sufficient long after they have completed the program.
- We Participate in Community Service
Community service is a critical component of our program. Throughout the year, we will participate in a variety of community service projects. These projects help our program participants build confidence and develop a sense of purpose, which plays a vital role in someone’s rehabilitation.
- We Help Our Participants Rebuild Relationships
We understand how addiction can negatively affect someone’s relationships, whether it be relationships with friends, significant others, or family members. Our individual therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, and special events provide our residents with the chance to rebuild their relationships with their loved ones. Repairing personal relationships is a significant part of moving forward in the recovery process, so we ensure to include as many opportunities as possible for residents to work on their relationships with others.
- We Encourage Progression Through Earned Privileges
An essential part of our treatment strategy is to award program participants with privileges as they illustrate progress. They can demonstrate progress by navigating their emotions appropriately, taking on more responsibility, or making good choices. In return, they receive more opportunities to enjoy leisure activities. This method of positive reinforcement aids in the creation of good habits that will help our residents not only recover but also live a happy, independent life.
- We Offer an Assortment of Clinical Services
We know that every person is unique, so their treatment plan should be as well. While we do have mandatory clinical groups for all of our associates, we have an assortment of additional clinical groups that participants can choose to attend. Whether someone wants to learn more about the female recovery process or critical life skills, we have a clinical group to suit everyone’s particular needs.
We are incredibly appreciative of any contribution, whether it be monetary or in-kind, because without them, we would not be able to help those who need our assistance in beginning their journey towards rehabilitation. Donating to our organization is not only an incredible way to give back to the community, but it is also a way to give someone a second chance.
